INDIAN VILLAGE - The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe is inviting the public to its grand opening celebration of the Naskila Entertainment electronic gaming facility, set for Thursday, June 2.

Visitors who come early will receive a special commemorative gift and have the opportunity to cash-in on the “hot seat” promotions taking place at the gaming facility. First-time players will also be able to sign up for the “Players Club” to receive a free credit and try their luck at the various machines.

The Timbers Grille Restaurant seats up to 75 and will be open all day serving traditional American dishes.

Although many of the 350 gaming machines at Naskila look similar to casino-style slots and card games, they still operate as regulated Class II electronic bingo machines under the National Indian Gaming Commission.

The grand opening ceremonies will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday with the ribbon cutting, where tribe council members and invited dignitaries will be present to tour the facility.

The gaming facility recently opened its doors in May shortly after construction was completed. The company has already hired more employees than originally expected.

“We originally had set to hire 150 employees, but the more we looked into it, we realized the facility would be understaffed. We have hired more than 200 employees and lot of the extra hires went to the Timbers Grille restaurant,” said A-C representative Carlos Bullock.

Naskila Entertainment is located at 540 State Park Road 56, 15 miles east of Livingston.
