Texas primary election on Tuesday

LIVINGSTON – With early voting concluded, the 2016 primary races are moving toward the wire as candidates in both political parties make their final push for votes in the March 1 elections.

Election Day will be Tuesday, with 21 polling places open throughout Polk County. Voting will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Winners in the Republican and Democratic party primaries will advance to the November general election.

On the ballot this year are races that include President of the United States, U.S. representative, a number of statewide offices and local offices including 411th District judge, district clerk (two-year unexpired term), tax assessor collector, two county commissioners and all four precinct constables. In addition, each political party will be electing a county chairman.

Voters should be prepared to produce photo identification before they can cast ballots, such as a valid Texas driver’s license, Texas personal identification card, U.S. passport, Texas concealed handgun license, U.S. military identification with photo, U.S. Citizenship Certificate or Certificate of Naturalization with photo or an Election Identification Certificate (EIC).

Following is a listing of the polling locations in Polk County. Voters must vote in the election precinct or “box” in which they reside. To determine which box to use, voters should look at their voter registration certificate. On the left side is a box labeled “Prec. No.”

The number in that box corresponds to the “Voting Box” listed below.
