LIVINGSTON -- A new set of clothes for going back to school often includes a new set of clothes for the new year.
For those looking to acquire school supplies and clothing for children headed back to school in the Polk County area, a few places will hold giveaways for families in need.
The "Livingston Back-to-School Fair" will be hosted 10 a.m.-1p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20 at the Livingston Municipal Library.
Each school-aged child in grades K-12 will be given one backpack with school supplies, while the goods last.
To receive the backpack and supplies, the children must be present with an adult. In addition, there will be other giveaways, as well as face painting and popcorn. Health, safety, nutrition and dental information will be available for children and adults.
The library is located in Livingston at 707 North Tyler Avenue.
The First Assembly of God Church will host its annual "Back-2-School Bash" Sunday, Aug. 16. The church will give away free backpacks to all students from Pre-K-12 at 5:30 p.m. while the supplies last.
The Texas Department of Health will also provide free immunizations. If you wish to take part in the immunization program, a shot record for each person is required.
Free haircuts, snow cones, hot dogs and more will be available when the doors open at 5 p.m.
Each student must be present to receive a backpack. The First Assembly of God is located at 2025 North Houston Avenue in Livingston.
