Collision claims one life

LIVINGSTON – A Livingston man died early Sunday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident at 10 p.m. Saturday on Hwy. 146, 4.9 miles south of Livingston, according to the Texas Highway Patrol.

The deceased, 34-year-old Hilario Uvalle III, was driving a 2000 Subaru Outback southbound when the vehicle left the road to the right.

Uvalle over corrected to the left and the vehicle traveled into the northbound lane where it was struck by a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Oscar Olmos, 28, of Hamshire, according to Trooper Ramey Bass.

The impact tore Uvalle's vehicle in half.

Uvalle was taken by ambulance to CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial hospital in Livingston, where he was pronounced dead at 2:09 a.m. Sunday.

Olmos was also transported by ambulance to the Livingston hospital and was later transferred to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston with serious but non-incapacitating injuries, according to the accident report.
