Four Polk County veterans were honored Tuesday as part of the local Flag Day celebration conducted by the American Legion Post No. 312 of Livingston. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8568 Honor Guard also was on hand to perform rifle salutes and the bugle song “Taps.” Ceremonies were held at the Polk County Courthouse where County Judge Sydney Murphy presented U.S. flags that were flown over the courthouse and the justice center then during ceremonies at the Livingston City Hall, Mayor Clarke Evans presented two more flags that were flown over city hall.
